Vol. 566 No. 3

Written Answers. - Garda Suspensions.

Mary Upton

Question:

139 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of members of the gardaí currently suspended from the force, who have been charged with criminal offences and who are awaiting trial; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12799/03]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that six members of the Garda Síochána who have been charged with criminal offences and who are awaiting trial currently stand suspended.

In the above circumstances, I consider that it would be inappropriate to make any comment in the matter at this juncture.
