Vol. 566 No. 4

Written Answers. - Environmental Policy.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

170 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when the office of environment enforcement promised in An Agreed Programme for Government will be established and operational; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12973/03]

An Agreed Programme for Government provides for the establishment of an Office of Environmental Enforcement to improve implementation and enforcement of environmental legislation. Work on the development of detailed proposals in this regard, including consideration of the legislative position and taking account of relevant responsibilities of existing agencies, is now well advanced and will be completed as soon as possible.
