Vol. 566 No. 4

Written Answers. - Art Therapy Services.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

213 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received a submission from the Irish Association of Creative Art Therapists seeking formal recognition for music, art, drama and dance-movement therapy; the consideration he has given to the case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13133/03]

A submission has been received from the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists setting out its proposals in regard to the creation in the health services of a national grading structure, pay rates and qualifications. My Department has asked a working group established by the health boards' chief executive officers to consider the prospective role of creative arts therapists, in the context of its work on the role of psychotherapy and related disciplines generally in the health services.
