Vol. 567 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Hospitals Agency.

Finian McGrath

Question:

289 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding a national hospitals agency which was promised for the end of 2002. [13350/03]

The health strategy envisaged that the proposed national hospitals agency would have a key role in the organisation, development and future configuration of acute hospital services. The role and functions of the agency have been considered by Prospectus Management Consultants as part of the audit of structures and functions of the Irish health care system. The establishment of the national hospitals agency will, therefore, be considered in the context of the recommendations of the Prospectus report.
