Vol. 567 No. 1

Written Answers. - Legal Costs.

Fergus O'Dowd

Question:

368 Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the legal costs incurred to date by the Criminal Assets Bureau in court actions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13445/03]

Legal costs, in the sense of legal fees, incurred by the Criminal Assets Bureau are met from the Vote for the Office of the Chief State Solicitor. However, the information sought is not provided as a matter of course in the annual reports of the bureau which are laid before the Oireachtas and is not otherwise readily available. I will write to the Deputy with the information in the near future, provided that it does not require a disproportionate amount of time and resources to compile the information in question.
