I published the provisional crime statistics for 2002 on 3 April last and they are available in the Oireachtas Library. Garda crime statistics are no longer presented in the format of indictable and non-indictable offences. Beginning with the annual report for the year 2000, offences are now shown as headline and non-headline. While headline offences reflect to a major degree what were previously recorded as indictable offences, the two categories are not identical.
