Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Question:

374 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the situation in relation to the site of Shanganagh Open Prison; if he intends to sell the aforementioned lands; and if so, the purposes to which he intends to put revenues accruing from such a sale. [13594/03]

It is my intention that Shanganagh Castle, located in Shankill, County Dublin, standing on grounds of 24 acres, which operated as an open detention centre for juveniles until 20 December 2002, be sold and the proceeds re-invested in the Irish Prison Service.
