Vol. 567 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

161 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason Portlaoise Hospital is being downgraded, with people who break limbs being sent to Tullamore Hospital, resulting in a situation where most people from County Laois now go straight to Tullamore Hospital for treatment. [14136/03]

Services at Portlaoise and Tullamore Hospital are the responsibility of the Midland Health Board and my Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to examine this issue and to reply to the Deputy directly.
