Emmet Stagg

Question:

193 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the total sum spent to date on the restoration of Maynooth Castle, Maynooth, County Kildare; the remaining work to be undertaken under phase 1; the timetable for completion; if he will reconsider his decision not to proceed with phase 2 of the restoration works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14109/03]

A total of €1,967,406 has been spent to date on the restoration of Maynooth Castle. This programme of works is now complete. In relation to any further capital works, the position indicated in reply to Question No. 212 of 27 February 2003 remains unchanged. However, some routine works of a minor nature will take place at the castle this year.
