Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Illegal Dumping.

Joe Costello

Question:

403 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the plight of Ballysadare Abbey, County Sligo, regarding the illegal dumping in its environs and the lack of access being afforded to the general public and particularly the residents of the village of Ballysadare; the action he intends to take to bring it into line with other national monuments in the care of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14260/03]

My Department has been aware for some time of the condition of Ballysadare Abbey. At this stage, agreement has been reached with the owners of lands on which the Abbey is located, for the removal of all dumped material so as to facilitate public access.
