Vol. 567 No. 7

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

129 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance if there has been a Government decision in regard to the decentralisation of civil servants to the gateways identified in the national spatial strategy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15062/03]

As I have said on many occasions, a wide range of important issues, including the national spatial strategy, must be considered in the process of reaching a Government decision on decentralisation. That decision has not yet been taken and while the deliberative process is ongoing, it would be inappropriate and premature to identify any particular location which might be selected for inclusion in the new programme of decentralisation.
