Question:

189 Mr. Hogan asked the Taoiseach the number of committees that have been established since 1997; the total cost; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15647/03]

As agreed with the Deputy the table below is a list of committees which have been established since 1997, excluding in-house committees or any group-committee the members of which are civil servants, Cabinet committees and Oireachtas committees, and working groups established under social partnership. The approximate total cost of the committees listed is €3,279,533.

Information Society Commission

The first Information Society Commission was appointed in 1997 and ran until the end of 2000. The current Information Society Commission was appointed in November 2001 and will run until the end of 2004.

Foot and Mouth Co-ordinating Committee

The Co-ordinating Committee was established on 27 February, 2001.

Asset Management Task Force

From time to time, meetings take place and working groups/expert groups and so on are established to deal with specific issues but none of these have been afforded the status of committee.
