Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Willie Penrose

Question:

358 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will examine the situation pertaining to provision of school transportation for children from the Moorings/Ardleigh/ Ardilaun/Curra Vale/Curra Grove/Greenpark area of Mullingar; if transport will now be provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15604/03]

The position generally is that a primary school transport service may be established where there are at least seven eligible pupils offering for transport to the nearest school from a distinct locality. In order to be eligible for transport, pupils must reside two miles or more from the nearest national school. If the Deputy provides the names and addresses of the pupils offering for transport, my Department will have the case investigated as a matter of urgency.
