Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Paul McGrath

Question:

376 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science the allocation for primary school building projects as announced in budget 2002; if he will compare this with the actual outturn for 2002; and the source of any additional allocation over the budget announcement. [15840/03]

The allocation for the primary school building programme in 2002 was €153,640,000. The Government decided in April 2002 to allocate an additional €19 million to the primary schools building programme on the basis of a re-allocation of funds including €10 million from my Department. The balance was scheduled to be allocated from the then following Departments: Social, Community and Family Affairs; Defence; Public Enterprise; Agriculture and Food; Finance; Communications, Marine and Natural Resources; Enterprise, Trade and Employment; Tourism, Sport and Recreation and Foreign Affairs. The original allocation plus the additional €19 million was fully expended.
