Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tourism Industry Development.

Tony Killeen

Question:

466 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he will arrange for the publication of background and supporting material for recommendation 3.2 of the interim report of the tourism policy review group; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15518/03]

As the tourism policy review group mentioned in paragraph 8 page 28 of its interim report, it developed a number of initial conclusions and interim recommendations on the basis of submissions received and consultations with key tourism interests.

Written submissions have been posted to the tourism policy review group's website www.tourismreview.ie, where they may be viewed online or downloaded. A number of these submissions refer to the issue of air access and include proposals and suggestions on increasing the number of overseas visitors to Ireland.

The nature of the interim report did not allow for the inclusion of the full background and rationale for all the interim recommendations; this will be elaborated on in the review group's final report, which I expect to receive by the end of July. It is not intended to publish any further material regarding the interim report.
