Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Liz McManus

Question:

552 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health and Children if Portlaoise Hospital will not be downgraded in view of the considerable public concern regarding the future status of the hospital; if the failure to locate a full-time accident and emergency consultant there will be addressed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15533/03]

Services at Portlaoise Hospital are the responsibility of the Midland Health Board and my Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to examine this issue and to reply to the Deputy directly.

Michael Ring

Question:

553 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be admitted to the Mater Hospital in view of the fact that they have been on the waiting list for admission since August 2002. [15553/03]

The provision of hospital services for persons resident in County Mayo is a matter for the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position and to reply directly to the Deputy.
