Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Marian Harkin

Question:

564 Ms Harkin asked the Minister for Health and Children the situation regarding the availability and use of the DEXA scanning machine at Our Lady's Hospital in Manorhamilton; and if there are plans to increase the usage of the machine in order to eliminate the waiting list in view of the fact that there is a delay of up to 12 months before a patient can avail of the osteoporosis scanning service following general practitioner referral. [15583/03]

Responsibility for the provision of services at Our Lady's Hospital, Manorhamilton, rests with the North-Western Health Board. Therefore, my Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to the issue raised and to reply directly to the Deputy.

Willie Penrose

Question:

565 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who has been diagnosed with a melanoma will be immediately admitted to Beaumont Hospital to have same removed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15608/03]

Responsibility for the provision of hospital services to residents of County Westmeath rests with the Midland Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
