Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

591 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on whether the current state of hospital services is adequate in view of the fact that a person (details supplied) in County Galway was left waiting on a trolley for more than 24 hours in University College Hospital, Galway, while awaiting urgent attention; and if he proposes further investment into the service in order to avoid such appalling and exhausting waits for patients. [15971/03]

The provision of hospital services for persons resident in County Galway is a matter for the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position and to reply directly to the Deputy.
