694 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the position regarding the new local government legislation; the timetable for the enactment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15158/03]
The Local Government Bill 2003 was signed by the President on 2 June 2003 and has been enacted as the Local Government (No. 2) Act 2003. Regulations under section 3 of the Act with regard to local authorities' dealings with Members of the Houses of the Oireachtas will be prepared over the coming weeks and laid before both Houses.
