Vol. 568 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Bodies.

Phil Hogan

Question:

761 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the number of committees that have been established since 1997; the total cost; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [15661/03]

Because of the broad range of my Department's activities, there is at any one time a range of committees, working groups and project boards overseeing specific tasks in the development of many aspects of my Department's business. Since 1997 there have been 48 such committees. The costs involved in the main relate to standard administrative overheads such as the staff time required to carry out the work of the committees, the publication and dissemination of reports and in some cases the costs of consultancy expertise. I have arranged for details of the committees established since 1997 to be forwarded to the Deputy.
