Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Gogarty – the need for the Minister to police non-compliance with the Universities Act or amend the Act so that non-compliance can be monitored and policed by an independent body; (2) Deputy Burton – the investigation which has been held into the circumstances of a serious acid spillage in west Dublin on 10 June 2003; (3) Deputy Sargent – the need for the Department of Education and Science to ensure that schools are equipped with safe and appropriate furniture; (4) Deputy Wall – the funding available for the immediate refurbishment of St. Patrick's national school, Athy, County Kildare, and the status of the school in relation to disadvantage; (5) Deputy Joe Higgins – the concern over the spillage of a dangerous chemical from a truck in Mulhuddart, County Dublin; (6) Deputy Ó Snodaigh – in light of assurances in the Government's progress report and until such time as the planned internal review is completed, the need to intervene on an urgent basis to reverse the latest cuts which led to the closure of six community employment schemes in the Dublin 12 area earlier this week; (7) Deputy Cowley – the need to take steps regarding a pupil with special needs to attend Cuilmore national school; (8) Deputy Eamon Ryan – the development of a national cycle route network which would designate certain safe routes for cycling tourism throughout the country.

The matters raised by Deputies Burton, Joe Higgins, Sargent and Wall have been selected for discussion.
