Vol. 568 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Development Plan.

Tom Hayes

Question:

47 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Education and Science the projects which are listed under the national development plan; and the date of completion for each project. [16266/03]

There is provision in the National Development Plan 2000-2006 for funding in the education sector through the employment and human resources development operational programme, the productive sector operational programme and two regional operational programmes. This provision is targeted at measures to promote social inclusion across all levels of education, expand second-chance education and life-long learning opportunities and modernise education facilities at all levels.

There are currently 35 measures supported by the operational programmes, involving programmes and projects of both a capital and current nature. Given the range of the activities supported by the national development plan, it would take some considerable amount of official time to co-ordinate the information sought by the Deputy for every project where a completion date is applicable. If, however, the Deputy has any queries regarding a specific project or programme, I would be very happy to forward the information to him.
