Vol. 568 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Bodies.

John McGuinness

Question:

114 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if he has established the cost of changing the corporate image of Dúchas; if there is a plan and timeframe for the changes to be implemented; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16334/03]

On 16 April 2003, I announced that as part of the changes in the distribution of heritage responsibilities within the governmental system, the Dúchas brand was being discontinued. At the same time, my Department has been retitled the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. I am now addressing how best the heritage remit of my Department can be accommodated within a redefined corporate image for my Department. It is not possible, however, at this stage to quantify the costs likely to be involved. In so far as some built heritage elements of Dúchas will now become the responsibility of the Office of Public Works, the task of repositioning its image to reflect its new functions is a matter for that office.
