232 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education and Science the current number of staff, broken down by grade, employed in the press office in respect of his office and the office of each Minister of State within his Department; the current amount paid in respect of each office in terms of salary, overtime and expenses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Education and Science (Mr. N. Dempsey):

The current staff of the press office in my Department is as follows: one press officer; three higher executive officers; one executive officer; two staff officers – work-sharing in one post; and one clerical officer.

The amount paid in respect of salary, overtime and expenses for the staff in the press office from 1 June 2002 to date is €247,836.92.
