Question:304 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí who are detailed to drive members of the Cabinet. [17224/03]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities, who are responsible for the allocation of resources, including personnel, that 34 members of the Garda Síochána are detailed on a week on, week off basis to drive members of the Cabinet and the Attorney General. A reserve pool of 24 gardaí are utilised when the drivers who are detailed to this duty are unavailable.
