107 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received an application from the Medical Council to seek a retention fee increase of 15% in 2003 and to seek further increases in 2004 as reported in a publication (details supplied) on 9 June 2003. [17246/03]
I received an application from the Medical Council to seek a retention fee increase of 15% in 2003, and further future fee increases. I recently wrote to the council, as required under section 25 of the Medical Practitioner's Act, 1978, to indicate my consent in this regard. This is the first fee increase sought by the council since 1995.
