243 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of children who sat the junior certificate examinations but did not achieve at least five D grades for the most recent year for which full statistics are available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17439/03]

246 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of children who sat the junior certificate and achieved at least five D grades but did not proceed further with full time education for the most recent year for which full statistics are available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to answer Questions Nos. 243, 245 and 246 together.

On foot of a Government decision in March 2003 the State Examinations Commission was established to assume operational responsibility for the State examinations. My Department has asked the commission to forward the information requested by the Deputy as soon as possible.
