Vol. 569 No. 3

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Finian McGrath

Question:

332 Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will intervene to assist Prosper Fingal Vocational Training Services, Piercetown, Skerries, County Dublin; and if the six families concerned can be assisted as a matter of urgency. [17784/03]

Vocational training for people with disabilities is the responsibility of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment under the mainstreaming principles adopted by Government in 2000. Responsibility for the provision of rehabilitative training services for people with disabilities remains the responsibility of the Department of Health and Children and services are provided by the health boards. Accordingly, my Department has asked the chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply directly to him.
