Vol. 569 No. 3

Written Answers. - Courts Service.

John Deasy

Question:

370 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason for the huge increases in court fees payable on probates and administration of estates which have virtually doubled in size; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17444/03]

The fees payable in the Probate Office and District Probate Registries are set out in the Supreme Court and High Court (Fees) Order 2003 which provided for an increase of approximately 20% in fees generally. It should be noted that court fees represent a very small fraction of legal costs.
