Vol. 569 No. 3

Written Answers. - Work Permits.

Ciarán Cuffe

Question:

168 Mr. Cuffe asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the situation in regard to the renewing of work permits for non-nationals; and the changes which have been introduced recently in view of the fact that it appears that many persons have not had their work permits renewed in the recent past. [17591/03]

The vast majority of applications for the renewal of work permits are granted. In 2003, to date, over 21,000 work permits have been issued of which 787 have been refused, representing only 3.7% of the total. The percentage of renewal applications refused will have been much smaller. No recent changes have been introduced in regard to the renewal of work permits.

Question No. 169 answered with Question No. 165.
