223 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Health and Children the current number of beds in Portlaoise General Hospital; if his Department has plans to reduce same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17973/03]

Services at Portlaoise hospital are the responsibility of the Midland Health Board and my Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to examine this issue and to reply to the Deputy directly.
