170 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when a renewal work permit will issue in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18792/03]
An application in respect of the individual concerned was received on 4 June 2003. It is the Department's policy to process work permit applications in the order in which they are received. Assuming the application is completed correctly and is otherwise in order it is likely to be processed within the next five weeks. The Department is now issuing work permits at a rate of about 1,000 per week.
