Vol. 570 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Operations.

Tony Gregory

Question:

497 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the gardaí in the Bridewell district are satisfied that foot patrols requested by residents of Halliday Square/Palatine Square, Dublin 7, to curb anti-social activities by gangs of youths are available when required. [18655/03]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the local Garda management is satisfied that Halliday Square/Palatine Square receives regular attention from Garda mobile and foot patrols.

I understand that local residents are in regular contact with community gardaí at the Bridewell station. On 16 June 2003, a meeting was held between gardaí and residents at which anti-social activities, primarily on Saturday nights, were addressed.

I understand that the problems appear to have been eliminated, as a result of increased foot and mobile patrols, and I am assured that the area will continue to receive attention from mobile and foot patrols.
