In September of last year I established the legal advisory group on defamation to report back to me on a range of matters related to the reform of the law of defamation. The report of that group was published on 20 June and was laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas on 23 June.
I have now initiated a public consultation process whereby interested parties are invited to submit their views on the report and its recommendations. The deadline for receipt of submissions is 31 December 2003.
