Vol. 570 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bunreacht na hÉireann.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

52 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Taoiseach his views on the fact that there is no copy of the current Irish Constitution (Bunreacht na hÉireann) available for purchase from the Government Publications Office and that his office recently informed a person anxious to acquire a copy that this document has been out of print since November 2002 and could indicate no date as to when it will become available. [18718/03]

The most up to date version of the Constitution has always been available, in Irish and in English, on my Department's website.

Hard copies of the popular text are currently being reprinted and are available today.
My office was alerted last February that copies were in short supply in Government Publications Sales Office. At that time, the process of reprinting was already under way and its completion was prioritised. Final texts were sent to the printers three weeks ago.
In the meantime, my Department has assisted persons seeking copies by making available copies from its own supply and/or by providing printed copies where required of the website publication.
