Question:

237 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science when Castleknock Educate Together will be provided with funding for a new school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19442/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 168 and 237 together.

The proposed large-scale building project for Castleknock Educate Together school is listed in section 7 of the 2003 school building programme which I published on my Department's website at www.education.ie This project is at an has been assigned a band 1 rating by my Department, in accordance with the published criteria for prioritising large-scale projects and a design team has been appointed. Projects listed in sections 6 and 7 (primary) are not being authorised to progress beyond their current stage of architectural planning for the time being. The timing of when projects listed in these sections can progress to tender and construction will depend on the budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years and the priority afforded to each project by reference to the band rating.

Question:

169 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science his plans to provide a new primary school at Luttrellstown-Diswellstown; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19370/03]

A new parish primary school was established in September 2001 to cater for the increasing population of the LuttrellstownDiswellstown area. The school is located temporarily at the former St. Mochta's school building in Porterstown. A site has been identified in the area for primary school provision. However, the acquisition of the site will depend on the capital allocation for 2004 and subsequent years.
