Question:838 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has satisfied himself with the handling of a case (details supplied) in County Dublin. [19919/03]

I have been informed by the Eastern Regional Health Authority that the child referred to in the case raised by the Deputy died from cancer in August 2002 and I wish to extend my sympathy to the child's family.
I understand that the particular question raised by the Deputy relates to the placement of the child in care under the Child Care Act 1991. As this is an operational matter under the Act for the Northern Area Health Board my Department has asked the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to have the matter investigated and a direct reply issued to the Deputy as soon as possible.
