Question:1214 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding the Criminal Law (Insanity) Bill 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20823/03]

The Criminal Law (Insanity) Bill 2002, which was initiated in the Seanad on 10 December 2002, is currently awaiting Committee Stage having completed Second Stage on 19 February 2003. In the meantime detailed comments and observations on the Bill have been received from a wide range of interested bodies and individuals and are being considered. I hope that progress on the Bill can be made during the coming session.
