Vol. 571 No. 2

Written Answers. - Commonwealth Membership.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

125 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has given consideration to the implications of Ireland's rejoining the Commonwealth. [21111/03]

I have not given any consideration to this issue. Ireland enjoys positive bilateral relations with individual members of the Commonwealth, including through our membership of the United Nations and other international organisations. We also have a close working relationship with a number of Commonwealth states through the Government's official development co-operation programme, Development Co-operation Ireland.
