Vol. 571 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

217 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Galway under the REP scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22217/03]

The person named has received annual payment in respect of each of the five years of his REPS plan and no further annual payments are due. An appeal against a penalty is being examined by the agriculture appeals office. The outcome of the appeal will determine whether the person named is entitled to any additional payment.

Michael Ring

Question:

218 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person - details supplied - in County Mayo will receive area based payments for 2003; and the reason for the delay. [22218/03]

The person named included a land parcel on his 2003 area aid application that overlapped with a parcel on another herdowners application. This overlap was resolved in favour of the person named and his application has now been fully processed with an area determined for payment purposes of 33.98 hectares. Payment of his full entitlement under the 2003 area-based compensatory allowance scheme will issue shortly.

The person named has nine animals eligible under the 2003 slaughter premium scheme to date. Five of these animals were heifers under 30 months and are, therefore, eligible for a top-up from the national envelope for the beef sector. In accordance with the EU regulations governing the slaughter premium scheme, advance payment of estimated entitlement will commence for both of these schemes from 16 October 2003. The balance of premium due will be paid in 2004 after the national quota position has been established and after completion of all checks. The person named has not applied for special beef premium in 2003 to date.
