Question:

249 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the cost to the State of providing transport expenses to each individual Minister of State since the formation of the Government. [22943/03]

Two Ministers of State have been appointed to the Department of Foreign Affairs. The Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Kitt, has responsibility for overseas development and human rights and the Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Roche, has responsibility for European affairs. The cost of providing transport in respect of the Ministers of State consists of the salary and subsistence costs of their drivers as well as payments for mileage costs incurred by the Ministers of State in the performance of their official duties. A breakdown of the costs involved, in respect of each Minister of State, is shown in the following table:
