Vol. 572 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

John Cregan

Question:

280 Mr. Cregan asked the Minister for Education and Science if an application for resource hours and a special needs assistant for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny will be sanctioned; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22957/03]

It is my understanding that the pupil referred to by the Deputy is unable to attend school at present. As an interim arrangement, my Department has sanctioned a grant to be used towards tuition in the home. A letter to this effect issued to the pupil's mother on 10 October 2003. My Department will consider any application made by the school authority for additional special educational needs support once the pupil resumes attendance at school.
