297 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science when a special needs assistant will be appointed for a person (details supplied) who has been assessed as in need of such assistance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23161/03]
An application for additional support has been received in respect of the student in question. All such applications are referred to the national educational psychological service, NEPS, for consideration and recommendation of the nature and level of special support required in each case. A recommendation in the case in question has now been received and my Department will be in contact with the school authorities in relation to this matter very shortly.
