Vol. 572 No. 3

Written Answers. - Future of Aer Rianta.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

413 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Transport his proposals for the future of a hotel group (details supplied); if it is proposed to privatise the hotels; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23023/03]

I am giving detailed consideration to the future of the Great Southern Hotels group in the context of the Government decision of July last to restructure Aer Rianta and establish the three State airports as fully independent and autonomous State airport authorities. In this context I will have regard, not only to the optimum allocation of the Aer Rianta group assets among the three new airport authorities, but also to how best the GSH group can be positioned to meet the challenges and opportunities facing Irish tourism and the hotels sector. I will also be consulting with the new airport boards-designate on this matter.
