Vol. 572 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Port Tunnel.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

76 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Transport if he has yet received the report he commissioned from consultants to determine if the Dublin Port tunnel is being built to an adequate height; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23134/03]

My Department has appointed consultants to review the feasibility, safety implications and cost of raising the height of the Dublin Port tunnel, including the evaluation of various options to achieve an increase in operational height.

Given the extent of work completed to date, the potential high cost and substantial delays associated with redesign and reconstruction of work already completed, the consultants have been asked to prepare their report within a short timeframe. While the Department has not yet received the report, I understand that the consultants expect to submit a draft report shortly.
