446 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will arrange for the release of Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform reports on the Republican movement in the 1940s, 50s and 60s that are held by the National Archives but not made available to researchers. The National Archives does not hold records relating to IRA activities in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. These are held by my Department. Decisions as regards the release or otherwise of such records are made by my Department in accordance with the provisions of the National Archives Act 1986. I am currently reviewing arrangements in place in my Department on releasing information to the National Archives.
