Vol. 572 No. 3

Written Answers. - Road Network.

John Gormley

Question:

152 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Transport the discussions he intends to have on the reform of the NRA as outlined in his statement of 12 September 2003. [23148/03]

As part of the measures being taken to accelerate delivery of the national roads development programme the National Roads Authority has engaged PricewaterhouseCoopers to carry out a review of the arrangements for the delivery of the national roads programme with a view to optimising delivery arrangements. Issues being addressed include the role of the NRA and local authorities, NRA statutory powers, legislation applying to roads projects, cost estimation and control procedures etc. The outcome of this work should assist in further streamlining project planning and delivery and securing value for money and I look forward to receiving proposals in this regard from the National Roads Authority following completion of the review.
