Vol. 572 No. 5

Adjournment Debate. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Eamon Ryan

Question:

20 Mr. Eamon Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government when he expects that every population centre of more than 1,000 inhabitants will have proper waste water treatment following his announce ment on 13 August 2003; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23636/03]

The Water Services Investment Programme 2003 – 2005, which I published in August, includes all the schemes required to facilitate implementation of the commitment in An Agreed Programme for Government that, by 2005, secondary waste water treatment facilities will have been provided or will be at an advanced stage of planning for all population centres of more than 1,000 inhabitants. A copy of the water services investment programme, which sets out the status of all approved schemes, is available in the Oireachtas Library.
