Vol. 572 No. 6

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Tom Hayes

Question:

343 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when extra gardaí will be sanctioned for Tipperary town. [23940/03]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities, which are responsible for the detailed allocation of resources, including personnel, that the personnel strength of Tipperary town Garda station as at 20 October 2003 was 33, all ranks. In addition, resources are augmented from within the districts or divisions as required, and the area is also patrolled by the divisional traffic unit. The situation will be kept under review, and when additional personnel next become available, the needs of Tipperary town will be fully considered within the overall context of the needs of Garda divisions throughout the country.
