Vol. 572 No. 6

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Willie Penrose

Question:

379 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the status of an application by Westmeath County Council for grant assistance for the refurbishment, renewal and replacement of houses at Ennell Court, Patrick Street, Mullingar; if approval and finance has been given for the necessary works to proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24241/03]

The estate was designated for funding under the remedial works scheme in November 2000 and the county council was requested at that time to prepare tender documentation for a pilot phase. It is understood that the county council is preparing plans and costings for remedial works to the existing houses and for the construction of a limited number of new units. It is expected that proposals will be submitted to my Department for consideration shortly.
